Yard Birds was started in a garage in Centralia, WA and moved shortly after to Chehalis. Their first store in Chehalis is now the home of Sunbirds. A location in Olympia was opened under the name Sea-Mart and later addopted the Yard Birds name. A small Yard Birds store was also opened in Shelton. The new and current Yard Birds location was built a few blocks north and across the street from the old location.
